Happy Thursday,
In health today, students had
an opportunity to review their knowledge of how the brain processes information
by reviewing the major functions of the amygdala, hippocampus and the
prefrontal cortex (PFC). Understanding how the brain processes information and
is wired to react under stress allows students to understand how they can learn
to react differently by helping their brain make wise choices about their words
and actions.
Today, students were asked to
imagine a situation in which their amygdala was overreacting, but there really
was no danger. Using a comic strip format, students then wrote a conversation
between their PFC, amygdala and hippocampus to demonstrate what they might say
to one other.
