Happy Wednesday!

Today in ELA, we reviewed the rules for adding dialogue into our stories. Students were then prompted to write a conversation between two interesting characters (e.g. a sock and a shoe, a shark and a surfer, etc.). Students will be building upon their dialogue piece over the next few days as they incorporate narration in order to create an interesting and engaging written exchange.

In the afternoon, we were visited by Ms. Lana, who shared her family history and stories from Belarus. As a class, we had just finished reading the novel Breaking Stalin’s Nose by Eugene Yelchin. The novel study reinforced our understanding of different government types and citizen participation. Ms. Lana shared her great grandparent’s experiences and hardships while living under the regime. She then shared some of her own personal stores as well as some insight into the current political climate.

Thank-you Ms. Lana for sharing your stories and experiences with us! We found them very interesting and enlightening.
