Hi Parents,
Please see notice sent home
today regarding picture day on Wednesday, October 16th, 2019.
Today we had a very honored
guest join our class. Elroy Pantherbone spoke
to students this morning regarding his first-hand experience at St. Mary’s
Residential School. He was able to share
the history of the institution, as well as describe some of his own memories
from when he was a child. He provided
students with a balanced perspective, and shared both his positive and negative
experiences. He also shared important words in the Blackfoot
language, and told the students of a bit of his life’s history – including becoming
an RCMP officer. The students were very
engaged in the presentation and ask many relevant and appropriate questions. We
hope to have Grandpa Panterbone (as he likes to be called) back again soon, so he can share more important
aspects of his history and culture.
