Happy Monday!

Students had a great day today at the YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre!  They spent the first part of the morning reviewing a Smart Choices Checklist, which provided students with steps to consider before making important decisions. Students could then consider this checklist as they visited various stations on Gangs, Drug, and Online Safety. In the afternoon, students were then introduced to a crime along with a list of suspects. After analyzing forensic evidence (e.g.  fingerprints, footprints, DNA and hair fibres), students could then link suspects to the crime in order to make their conclusions and convictions. The field trip to YouthLink allowed students to bring together several concepts introduced in the classroom, and then utilize their knowledge to solve a real-life crime.

Note: YouthLink has public hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00am - 4:00pm (with free admission). Additionally, they frequently run camps and offer special events.  Please see their website for more information.
