Hello Parents,

Today was our field trip to StudioBell National Music Centre, and the students had a great time!  We began our day by attending a performance, in which the Kimball Organ was used to make movie sound effects. We then went to our scheduled program, “Words to Songs.” In the session, students explored how to make patterns out of words, using syllables, repetition, and rhyme. Students then learned to recognize patterns from a favourite Canadian song, and then use those patterns as a springboard for creating their own lyrics. After finishing their composition, students had an opportunity to then share their ‘song’ with the rest of the class. We spent the rest of the day touring the many exhibits available at Studio Bell.

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO OUR VOLUNTEERS FOR MAKING THIS DAY POSSIBLE!!  WE COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU!  J
