Happy Tuesday!
Please note that field trip forms for Youthlink Interpretive Centre were sent home today. If possible, please complete and return by Friday, September 27th.

In social studies today, students began looking at at their rights and responsibilities as a citizen. Our guiding questions were:
What rights do I have as a Canadian?
What responsibilities go along with my rights?

By first analyzing our rights and responsibilities at school, we then applied these concepts to our grade 6 objective of understanding how the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms protect the individual rights and freedoms of all Canadians.  Before delving into the highlights of the charter, students had the opportunity to anticipate which statements about Canada were true or false. Students were then introduced to highlights from the Charter to confirm or disprove their theory. We'll continue to look at the charter as we explore how it applies to different groups in Canada.
