Happy Monday,

In recognition of Orange Shirt Day, we discussed residential schools and the ongoing process of reconciliation.  We also completed a poem analysis of I Lost My Talk by Rita Joe.

In math today, we worked on a grade 5 number sense objective by using 10 blocks to create a visual representation of 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication equations.  We will continue to work with array models before moving onto solving these operations with a standard algorithm.

In science, we continued to work on the grade 6 evidence and investigation unit by learning how hair and fibre can be analyzed to link suspects to a crime scene. We used microscopes to then look at our own hair and identify the root from the hair shaft.

Reminder, Scoop Troop has their spelling test on Wednesday, October 2nd.
