Hi Families,

Reminder that Thursday is our Potluck Picnic. Families are asked to bring their own beverage along with a potato topping that can be shared. The school will provide the potatoes, salad and plates.

This afternoon, students began an art project that looked at the technique of impressionism as an art form that focuses on the effect of light on colours and forms.  Impressionist artists often use broken brush strokes rather than smooth ones, as well as using many colours to paint scenes of everyday life.  Students were provided pictures of several impressionist paintings of Claude Monet, and were provided with instruction on how to use chalk pastels to create layers of colours in their chosen image.  Next steps in our creative process will be to emphasize lines and layers of colour through the use of oil pastels.
